Nigeria: Bayelsa APC to Members - Don't Fall Victims of Fake Agric Loan

The Bayelsa state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has cautioned its members against falling victims of fraudsters asking people to pay certain amount of money to enable them access loan from the federal ministry of agriculture and rural development.

The party, in a statement issued in Abuja by the state APC secretary, Comrade Daniel Marlin, stressed that the federal government had not rolled out any agricultural loan scheme.
Marlin said the party was "reliably informed" that "unsuspecting members of the public" had been fleeced of cash, ranging from N30,000 to N50,000 with a promise to influence access to the loan.
"Victims of the ruse are also asked to create white-elephant agricultural corporations and open an account with the Agricultural Development Bank and Bank of Agriculture," he said.
He warned the perpetrators to desist, stressing that the APC "government known globally for its anti-graft enthusiasm will not tolerate scammers plying their trade under its cover".
"We call on our members in Bayelsa state and the general public to aid in fishing out the criminals before their actions taint our great party. State Party Chairman Chief Tiwei Orunimighe assures that actions are on course to ensure Bayelsans enjoy the dividends of democracy and the change ideals President Muhammadu Buhari initiated in his quest to stand this country upright," said Marlin.
