AGRICULTURE IN NIGERIA SET TO GO SMARTER

Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) is agricultural practices that improves productivity, resilience and adaptation, as well as contribute towards reduction of greenhouse gas emission. Climate Smart Agriculture could lead to overall increase in food production and food security. It brings novelty to the already existing agricultural known practices as a result of change in climate.

As global warming increases, rainfall patterns shift, and extreme events such as droughts, floods, and forest fires become more frequent. The results are poor and unpredictable, which make farmers more vulnerable, particularly in Africa. Because of this, farmers face prospects of tragic crop failures, reduced agricultural productivity, increased hunger, youth unemployment, malnutrition and diseases.

The Nigerian Government has begun  to adopt Climate-Smart Agriculture practices that will allow small, medium to big farm holders adapt to climate change whilst reducing emissions. Some of these Practices will discussed at 5th Edition ofAGRIKEXPO to be held at International Conference Centre, Abuja, 26 - 28 September, 2016.

Visit www.agrikexpo.com for more information about the event.

AGRIKEXPO is collaborated by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD), Federal Ministry of Trade & Investments (FMTI), Nigeria Agribusiness Group (NABG), All farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), and several other agencies. Several Conferences with theme on AGOCHEMICALS, MACHINERY, POULTRY, and PROCESS & PACKAGING will hold during the event at the same venue.
It would be a wonderful opportunity for premium agribusiness networking, as many high profile guests in Agribusiness have been invited, apart from the trade visitors. Government is excited over AGRIKEXPO as would avail opportunity for agribusiness development as networking happens. Indeed the 2016 edition of AGRIKEXPO, rightly posited as the 56th INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY EDITION in recognition and support of Governments effort on Agricultural Transformation.
